Put 150 miles on the Rav4 scouting last night. On my way back home found 500 geese and 300 ducks feeding in a corn field 2 miles from the house. We obtained permission and decided to hit it this afternoon. Forecast was for overcast skies giving way to snow after 2pm with a rocking north wind. We got to the field about noon and as we were packing decoys out saw the first group of birds come to the field. It was pretty evident today would be a comedy of errors. As we set up singles and pairs milled about. We finally got ready to hunt and within 10 minutes the first flock came in perfect. My brother went 3 for 3. I went 1 for 3. The birds had been in 2 groups in the field the night before. It became readily apparent the birds wanted to be further to our NE in the field. At some point I lost my cell phone, and my brother broke his high dollar camera. We shot a couple more then action cooled off. We thought all the birds should be in the fields already. As we pick up here came one last flock that would have come straight in. We get out, go home, and right at dark the snow starts. Ducks never showed, but they have been odd this year switching fields a lot. We did have a falling bird skewer itself on a corn stalk. Still better than sitting at home I figure.

Send some of those big birds down here. That's a thump when one of those hits the ground.

We were counting on the snow starting earlier. Birds get stupid in the snow.

They sure do. There is nothing I like better than shooting ducks/geese in the snow. After it quits snowing, I like to shoot a deer and see the nice red trail it leaves!:biggrin1:
