Today is the last day of Illinois south central zone season and we sent them out with a bang!

    1 goose, 5 canvasbacks, and 19 goldeneyes by 8:29.

I might go down to the southern zone some but will be mostly be hunting Canada geese till the 31 st then the light conservation season for snows till March 31.

I am jealous of the canvasbacks!! I don't know much about the goldeneyes though. How's the taste of them? Do they compare to any other ducks as far as taste?

They taste like chicken.... Haha. I'm sure Nick or others can describe for you compared to other ducks, but I thought they tasted good in the duck fried rice my wife made. -uploadfromtaptalk1389360945038-jpg. I posted the ingredients she used in the thread about recipes.

Drake yes that picture was at the boat ramp after we had loaded the boat. As far as how my season compared to others in my area I can't really say. I would guess our numbers were quite a bit above most but I hunt every day and have been doing it long enough and put in the effort to be very good. Not trying to brag but just don't know how else to word it. I will say my numbers (617 ducks for the boat) were about average or maybe slightly below average. All and all a good year.

Greentimber cans are very good eating. Would probably put them just above mallards. Goldeneyes can be very strong. Not for beginners that aren't sure about duck. Although when fixed right are not bad at all.

Nah, wasn't asking you to compare against other folks but other seasons. Looks like you answered that is was close to average. Thanks. Just wondering if this crazy weather had a big impact. As for pavement, I was just hinting that it looks like the snow was melting by you. Again, thanks for the reply.

Where? I can't seem to find it. Can you provide a direct link please.

And can I use it in an upcoming Recipe book wifey is putting together. It's a Crappie.com Recipe book she and "G" have been working on. They are gathering all the recipies off Crappie.com and putting them together. We need a few more and it'll be complete.

Sure you can use it. Just let me know if the recipe makes the editor's cut so that we can say our recipe has been published in hard copy.
