Thread: The big CHILL!!!

    I witnessed a 20 thousand acre lake go from no ice to 95% frozen in 15 minutes today. It did open up some this afternoon once the wind started blowing. It was a cool site to behold.

    Here is a picture of the "lake" this was all open at 5:00 am.

    And the end result. 4 mallards 4 goldeneyes, 2 canvasbacks, 2 blue bills, 2 hooded mergansers.

    This is a cold year. Only small open holes on strip pits open besides the power plant cooling lake. Windchill approaching 40 below Monday morning.

    Even down here in the south, it is COLD. 6 degrees here with wind chill between -15 and -20. Us southern boys aren't real used to this kind of cold.

    The ducks are safe as long as its -12 wind chill here in Va... This am it was 61 degrees its dipped into the high 20s now and supposed to be single digits in the am. 54 degree change in 24 hrs... Crazy

    This morning it was -12 with a windchill of -27 when I left for work. Its a toasty 0 right now. At noon Saturday it was 55.

    Yesterday afternoon it was 5 wind chill was -25 and snowing to beat hell. Killed a pile of geese though. Had 4 specks 4 honkers and 22 snow geese only took two picture because I couldn't feel my fingers to work the phone. No kill pile pictures either was the last thing on my mind. Sorry
