It was a banner year for waterfowl. I actually got bored shooting mallards. Got a hard freeze early, thawed back out, and it was on.

Brother with his first banded duck. He also shot banded goose and lost a flip on another goose that was banded in 1995. 2 bands in one year when you haven't shot one since you started hunting ain't bad.

Finished it up today. Hunted a bean field. 5 guy shot 22 geese, 17 ducks

Drive by 4 fields that look like this on my way home from work. Also saw 3 swans sitting on a small pond this afternoon.

I think I'm in em here in va if I get a good group of 25-30 mallards... The Atlantic flyway isn't what I've been told it use to be. My dad has told me stories about when he hunted in the 70s and canvasbacks would raft by the thousands, now you lucky if you see one.

I'm definitely gonna plan a trip west of here next season.
